| Wet n' Wild Megalast Salon Nail Color in Wet Cement |
I love painted nails. I think everyone’s hands look infinitely better with a good manicure and a nice fresh paint job. Now, for the bad part. I SUCK at painting nails. Really, I have the manual dexterity of a 5 year old. Growing up as a bit of a tomboy it’s a skill I never quite developed. So, since I have them done professionally, my hands aren’t painted as much as I would like. I’m getting better at it though. I’m also getting better at using color on my fingernails. I could wear Essie’s Waltz (a lovely neutral) all day long; partially because I love the color, and partially because I hate the way colored nails look when they chip and then having to remove the polish a few days after getting my nails done. So, I was on the hunt for a long wearing nail color. I was going to pick up a pricey long wear brand, but decided to try Wet n’ Wild Megalast first. For the low price of $1.99, what did I have to lose?
What Wet n’ Wild says:
Long-lasting, opaque color provides 5 days of chip-resistant wear. A revolutionary resin polymer system creates exceptional color adhesion to nails.Other benefits: Toluene, phthalate, and formaldehyde free.
This polish also has a wider “pro brush” than the standard brush for easier application.
Disclaimer: my nails were professionally done and an OPI Top Coat was applied. The verdict: LOVE THIS POLISH! I can honestly say I am as excited about this product as any I have tried in some time.

| Day 1 |
First, after two coats, the polish gave good shine, even before the top coat was applied. Impressed.
Now for the wear:
Day 1: Slight wear at the tips. I’m not concerned. I use a computer all day, and this happens with every polish I own.Day 3: One official chip on my left index finger.
Day 5: Two chips.

So, did Megalast last 5 days without chipping? No. But I can say that this polish did as well and better than my OPI, Essie and $14 Butter nail polishes. Seriously. This polish is the bees’ knees. I typically get nail chippage at day 3 and have to flat out remove my polish by either the 3rd or 4th day. For $1.99, this polish is a no-brainer. The value is awesome.
I will definitely be buying more.
Would you wear Wet n' Wild cosmetics?

This color is super cute. I love it. I get a professonal gel overlay, so I don't have a chipping issue. However, I always take color's to the nail shop just in case I dnt like the colors they have. Great post! I'm all about nail color.
ReplyDeleteHi Maven
ReplyDeleteI love this color probably because it is so close to one of my favorite colors, "You Don't Know Jacques" by OPI. I can be a bit of a cosmetics brand snob so i have never tried wet and wild but now that you said it is free of phthalates and the other nail no no's I soooo want it. Thanks so much I will check out more of their colors.

Liz- I love the color. Its a nice neutral.
ReplyDeletePJD- I know what you mean about product snobbery. I was actually going to buy a Dior or Lancome polish (still might), but thought for the price it was checking out. I love OPI colors but they dont last for me.
