|Butter London Lippy in La Moss|
So, you know I’m a lipgloss lover, right? I think no look is complete without a good lip. For real. And as a bit of a gloss junkie, the Butter London lippy had been on my list to try since it joined Butter London’s popular nail polishes on store shelves. The problem: I feared the color choices might be a bit light for my caramel colored complexion. And while Lippy is not the most expensive gloss on the market, $17 is too much to just toss a gloss in the trash. So, one day while in Ulta, I did a little two-step when I ran across the Butter London Lippy fall colors and found La Moss, which Butter London describes as a “vampy, wine inspired dark red lip gloss”. Now, I’m not really a vamp, but I sometimes like to play one on TV, *jokes*, and La Moss is just right for the job.
I love the color depth and pigmentation. It’s a very dark mulberry shade in the tube, and goes on an almost purply-red. Sooo pretty. For brown girls, or darker complexions, this shade would be especially flattering. Butter London Lippy is also high shine and feels moisturizing. The formula is a bit sticky, but not overwhelmingly so. The thick texture actually increases the gloss wear. The gloss lasts a reasonable amount of time, but will need reapplication after food or drink. What is nice is that the color does not wear completely off. There is still color after the product wears down.
One slight downside is that when the gloss can initially apply unevenly, and a second coat may be needed. However, this is a minor issue. Another potential issue is smell. Some have found the smell to be unpleasant. While it didn’t bother me, it is something to note if you are sensitive to smell, and you may want to check the tester in the store. LIPPY products do not contain parabens, petroleum, phthalates, sulfates or bismuth.
In short, I like Lippy and would repurchase. In fact, the “Come to Bed Red” shade may be next on my list.Butter London Lippy is available for $17 at Ulta stores or at www.butterlondon.com
