Unless you are bonafide beauty product junkie who loves the thrill of finding that “perfect shade”, you may have found yourself overwhelmed when strolling down the cosmetics aisle of your favorite drugstore.  Or maybe you really don’t enjoy asking for help at the cosmetic counter.  You wouldn’t be alone.

Frustrated by her own struggles to find her best cosmetic colors and products, Asmau Ahmed used her stellar education and engineering background to found Plum Perfect, a mobile and web-based application that makes personalized makeup recommendations based on your unique color signature.  Consumers can simply take a picture with the app (or upload one), and Plum Perfect will search its network of retailers to recommend the colors and products that work best for the eyes, lips and face.  And a great feature … you can make purchases directly from the app.   

Ahmed, a graduate of both University of Virginia and Columbia Business School (MBA), spent years conducting math and beauty research to provide the most scientifically sound results possible.

 

I’ve added Plum Perfect to my IPad and I’ve found some great suggestions.  I wasn’t so sure about a few of the lipstick choices, but overall, there were many spot-on recommendations.
